Laboratory Services
At Baxter Creek, we have access to extensive laboratory testing as well as in-house blood testing capabilities. Urine testing and various fecal exams can also be done in the clinic. Tumor testing and fine-needle aspirates (FNAs) are a routine service in our practice. We have the ability to send samples and tissues to several national and state laboratories for a wide range of diagnostic services. |
Frequently Asked Questions:
- What should I do to bring in a urine or fecal sample?
- A urine sample is considered valid for testing within 6 hours of collection. Please collect a sample in a clean container and bring it in as soon as possible. If you are unable to bring it in right away, the sample must be refrigerated but cannot freeze. If the sample freezes it is no longer viable for testing. To collect a sample, try using a large plate, baking sheet, or ladle.
- A fecal sample is considered valid for testing within 12 hours of collection. We need about 1 tablespoon of matter to test. We cannot test liquids which have been soaked up in a paper towel. If you are unable to bring it in right away, the sample must be refrigerated but cannot freeze. If the sample freezes it is no longer viable for testing.
